My Review:

Dragon-Tastic!   I had the pleasure of reading Iris and the Dragonflies and was totally floored! If I had to compare this book to something it would be an Everything hoagie--it's packed with all the ingredients of a food pyramid! I was immediately taken into Iris's world. Rosemary had managed to make her characters believable and true to the their age (Eleven years old and in fifth grade).

Dragonflies followed Iris since birth. Iris was fond of one dragonfly in particular named Pinkie. Her parents Declan and Rhea and sister Bella didn't believe that dragonflies talked to her, they dismissed it as nonsense. Further into the story, she learned when her father was a child he once believed in Dragon's too, but buried that thought and listened to his mother to never talk about them again.  I was surprised and happy to learn in the very last sentence what the drangonflies really were!!!
Just before summer break Iris and her best friend Grace discovered they could hear each other thoughts. I know you're probably thinking ya ya I heard this over and over again but Rosemary's took this to another level making it her own. The characters took me on a roller coaster ride and didn't want to get off.

Two mean twin brothers Timmy and Tommy Bratwurst (perfect name!)always kept me on the edge of my seat and didn't know what to expect from them. Iris and her family went on summer vacation in Ireland where her Grandmother Clara lived, and Grace went to Newfoundland. Upon arriving at her Grandmother Clara's house, Iris became intrigued by a  the crumbling castle of Goll mac Morna and the Dragon's Cliff that she was forbidden to see. Nothing could cease her curiosity and she found a way to get there. Old secrets lingured within the walls.Visions of ghosts materialized upon touching the stones of the castle. The plot thickened when Iris learned about her Grandfather Brocc whom she had never met and aunt Brighid (her Grandmother's sister) these are a vital parts in the story that weaved in the mix of the Dragon's Tooth !Iris pieced together, her grandmother gave her father a box that held a dragon's tooth.  the truth about Iris being a Dragon's Seer.

Iris had six True Friends in the six grade....the  perfect team (each of them shared a unique power)- Anming from China, Luciano from Italy (he made me laugh lot!)  Krishma from India, and Jabulani from Tanzania. Iris saved Dragon's Creek that she loved so dearly from being destroyed by Redexho Development Site of future expansion posted at the creek. She attended the town meeting and new the mayor lied about the creek dying. Iris research Dragons at the library and came across a leather bound book that emitted images upon her touch and the title read one thing while her mind told her it was called something else-Lunaris. The Lunaris were people who believed in Mother Earth. Mr. Fretghar who posed as an old man, wanted to save the creek along with Iris but he was not who he sayed he was....a surprising twist indeed! I give his story a five out of five stars.
